Made in France | in search of the perfect scent

Three small Parisian perfumeries worth knowing.

P Frapin & Cie – Best known for their cognac, P Frapin & Cie have perfected the art of perfume making by employing the same skills and expert knowledge that they have used to refine the distillation of their cognac.

L’Humaniste opens with a spicy citrus vibrant boom, supported by the aromatic facets of juniper and thyme, highlighting a surprising ‘gin’ accord. A fresh and light fragrance created by Sidonie Lancesseur.***

L’Artisan – Founded in 1976 by Perfumer Jean Laporte in 1976, his goal was to create a unique fragrance house like no other in Paris by using the best quality materials and the best noses in the industry.

Passage d’Enfer – A fragrance of soft soothing light and flickers of fire Passage D’Enfer was composed by Olivia Giacobetti and bears many of the hallmarks of her work; translucency and a delicate controlled use of notes to paint gauzy images. Created in the year 2000 as the centuries shifted from one to another, the provocative name serves a dual purpose: a reference to this passage of millennia and also to the Paris street of the same name where L’Artisan had its original headquarters. The sheer incense note of Passage d’Enfer is cool, dry and haunting. It conjures up images of chilled cathedral walls, echoes of rituals and incantations. The name is dark and unsettling, but the scent itself is tranquil and contemplative. Lily and white musks sweeten the smoke, balms and amber glow in the darkness. For a moment Passage d’Enfer feels caught between heaven and hell, a fragrance of soft soothing light and flickers of fire. ***

The Different Company  –  Founded in 2000, The Different Company works with the world’s greatest perfumers to bring their customers a unique collection of exotic and elegant fragrances for both men and women.

Oud Shamash– A spiritual journey to the heart of the Far East. Oud Shamash sets off on the spicy accord of Pink Pepper, Saffron and Cinnamon before exploring the deepest and most mysterious resinous facet of Absolute of Oud.  A luminous alchemy intensified by the sensual warmth of Amber notes and Patchouli. ***
